Honda Civic Hybrid non-issues
By Douglas Wu

I received a letter from Honda documenting a problem with 2006-2011 Civic Hybrids. It appears small cracks are developing where the fuel filter pipe joins the fuel tank. The letter went on to state symptoms of the problem are gasoline smells and small amounts of spilled fuel. The company is extending the car's warranty to 10 years from the date of purchase or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, in leu of the problem.

About two years ago I received a letter from the company asking 2006-2008 Civic Hybrid owners to take the cars to dealers for an upgrade to the battery management software. Well, I never did take the car to the dealer for the software upgrade and I have not experienced any problems with the fuel tank. The car has performed well up to this point with 33,000 miles plus on the clock so to speak.
